My studio is located in the living room of my home. My ceramic work is an integral part of my life.

Most of my ceramic work is hand-built using a minimum of tools to shape the clay. The slow process of pinching and coiling improves my ability to respond to the malleable nature of clay. The form emerges in stages as I work. My background in sculpture leads me to create most of the surface decoration in the forming stage through carving, impressing textures or other methods of creating a relief surface. The pieces are finished with simple glazing that enhances the textural surfaces.

The glazes I use are formulas based on classic Asian glazes:
ash
oribe
tenmuku
celedon
iron crystaline
